So Saturday we're at the cabin picking up tools, cleaning up the construction work site when our next door neighbor comes over to warn us of an approaching severe storm. A tornado had been spotted on the ground fifty miles away and the cell (plus another) was heading right for us. I'm scared to death of wind. I dream about running from tornadoes pretty frequently. So needless to say I dropped the dang tools and rounded up the critters and a lawn chair and headed for the crawl space. Well, I did stop long enough to grab the wine and a glass and my digital camera and cell phone. Nothing happened. We did get some pretty heavy rain and some wind gusts, but no hail and no tornado, thank goodness. Some folks were not so lucky. We saw this damage on the way home Sunday afternoon near Granby, Missouri.
The road was lined on both sides with people sifting through their belongings. It's my nightmare come true for them.
I'm scared to death of tornadoes too...I slept through one when I was a kid so now I'm afraid I'll do the same thing again. I mean, HELLO, I SLEPT through it?!?!?!
So glad you and yours are ok!!!
(P.S. - Good move on the wine, that should be in every emergency kit, IMO)

glad to know you all are safe. i'm not sure if we ever had a tornado touch down when i was a kid living in kansas, but i do know we had strong enough wind to take our patio furniture on a trip to the neighbor's house, five houses down...
